Vipers Face the Blues in Oklahoma After Five-Game Winning Streak Is Snapped

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (5-1), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, fell 111-101 to the Oklahoma City Blue (2-6) on Wednesday night at Paycom Arena.

RGV scored the opening basket of the game, but Oklahoma City responded by going on an 8-0 run and made the score 8-2 with 9:56 to go. After that, the Blue ran away with the lead and maintained it which resulted in a 34-24 quarter.

In the second quarter the Blue led by as many as 11 points, but RGV clipped that lead to eight and set the score at 59-51 at the half.

Oklahoma City jumped to a 15-point lead in the third quarter after going on an 8-0 run. With less than five minutes to go the home team had an 80-65 advantage and held it until the end of the quarter which resulted in a 91-80 quarter.

During the fourth quarter RGV made a 7-0 run, but it was not enough to capture a win. In the end Oklahoma City walked away with a 111-101 victory.

The Vipers were led by Darius Days with 20 points. Houston Rockets Two-Way Nate Williams Jr. followed with 17 points. Both Jarrett Culver and Houston Rockets Two-Way Jermaine Samuels Jr. finished with 13 points each.

Oklahoma City Thunder Two-Way Keyontae Johson led all scorers with a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Also with a double-double was Noah Starkey with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Hunter Maldonado, Miller Kopp, and Caleb McConnell also scored in the double digits with 17, 16 and 11 points, respectively.
