HENDERSON, NV - NBA G League Ignite (0-8) fell to the Iowa Wolves (1-4), 117-103, on Wednesday at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev.
Ron Holland led the way for Ignite after recording his third 30-point game of the season with 30 points, six rebounds and two assists on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. Matas Buzelis followed with 16 points, three blocks and two rebounds, while London Johnson finished with 14 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. Will Davis added 10 points and four rebounds.
The Wolves were led by Tyrese Martin, who had a final stat line of 30 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists on 6-of-11 shooting from the three-point line. Giorgi Bezhanishvili posted 18 points and seven rebounds, while Trevor Keels provided 18 points. Javonte Cook provided 17 points, three assists and two rebounds. Lance Stephenson notched a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds and added seven assists.
Ignite fell behind early after struggling to get things going on the offensive end and trailed by as much as 20 points in the first half. Down 49-29 at the 4:30 mark in the second quarter, Ignite outscored the Wolves to close the half and cut its deficit to 12 points (60-48). Despite shooting 0-of-11 from behind the arc in the first half, Ron Holland helped Ignite remain in striking distance with 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field in that span. Trailing by 15 points at the 4:09 mark in the third quarter, Ignite used a 12-3 run to end the frame. London Johnson poured 10 of his 14 points in the frame to help Ignite cut its deficit to six points heading into the final period (84-78). The Wolves slowly pulled away from Ignite in the fourth quarter and took a 19-point lead with under five minutes remaining in regulation. Ignite made one final push en route to scoring nine consecutive points but couldn't overcome its deficit down the stretch.
