MISSISSAUGA, ON - The Texas Legends (4-2) chipped away at a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter but fell to the Raptors 905 (2-5) 112-119.
The game saw 11 lead changes, all in the first half. With just under one minute left in the second, Jelly Walker knocked down back-to-back threes to cut the deficit to three, but Markquis Nowell had the final word to make it 66-61 at the break. The Legends stayed close throughout the third, tying it up at the 3:40 mark. Opening the fourth with a six-point edge, the 905 went on an 8-0 run to take their largest lead of the night (+14) within the first two minutes. The Legends fought back and pulled within one with 1:47 to play, but a 6-0 stretch from the home team would keep them out of reach and force a series split.
Jelly Walker led all scorers with 31 points, 7 assists off the bench. Olivier-Maxence Prosper posted 22 points, 9 rebounds, and Theo Pinson grabbed the Legends' only double-double of 10 points, 7 rebounds, 12 assists, and 3 blocks. Justin Jackson added 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocks, and Tyler Hall rounded out the double figures with 14 points, 4 rebounds.
Markquis Nowell led the 905 with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists and Javon Freeman-Liberty added 21 points, 7 reobunds, and 5 assists. Mouhamadou Gueye grabbed a double-double for the home team with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
The Legends hit the road to take on the Cleveland Charge Saturday at 7pm CT on the UEN app and urbanedge.network. The team's next home game is Monday, Jan. 15th at 3:30pm in celebration of MLK Day. Tickets are available at 214-469-0822 or online at www.TexLegends.com.
