Vipers Clinch Playoffs in Snapping Warriors Nine-Game Winning Streak

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Mar. 5, 2021) - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (9-6) clinch a playoff spot in a 110-94 win over Santa Cruz Warriors (10-4) on Friday night at HP Field House. The defeat snapped the Warriors nine-game winning streak and extended RGV's winning streak to six.

All starters scored in the double-digits as Anthony Lamb paved the way for the Vipers with a game-high of 24 points (10-15 FG, 3-6 3PT) while recording a double-double with 10 rebounds. He dished out three assists, three steals and a lone block. Houston Rockets assignee Kevin Porter Jr. tallied 21 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, falling short from another triple-double.

Josh Reaves totaled 13 points, five assists, while Trevelin Queen hit 13 points. Shawn Occeus scored 10 points and four rebounds. From off the bench, Armoni Brooks notched 18 points, three rebounds.

For the Warriors, Jeremy Lin and Axel Toupane recorded 20 points each. Jacob Evans came off the bench to contribute 15 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Santa Cruz led in the first quarter 30-26, but the Vipers hustle tied the matchup going into the half 51-51. The Warriors fell short in the third by one point 76-75 but RGV outscored Santa Cruz in the fourth 34-19, coming out on top at the final buzzer.
