June 10, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Calgary Vipers News Release

The Calgary Vipers received six scoreless innings from their starting pitcher in defeating the Victoria Seals 4-1 at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, British Columbia. Dusty Gober was excellent for the Vipers throwing six shutout innings while allowing four hits and striking out five. After the Seals loaded the bases in the first inning the right hander went on to retire the next 12 batters in a row. At the plate Gober was solid as well in recording his first professional hit and run batted in. With the victory the Snakes are now 11-5 on the Golden Baseball League season and remain a game and a half back in the North Division.

Calgary took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning as Kevin Price walked and Luis Taveras crushed a two run shot for his second home run in as many nights.

The Vipers doubled their lead in the sixth frame when Drew Miller doubled, Price was hit by a pitch, Caonabo Cosme doubled home a run, and with a runner at third base the pitcher Gober executed a perfect suicide squeeze for a 4-0 advantage.

This series in Victoria against the Seals concludes on Thursday June 10th at 8:00 PM MDT.

Calgary returns home to Foothills Stadium on Saturday June 11th at 5:05 PM MDT and Sunday June 12th at 1:35 PM to take Calgary native Colin Moro and the Seals in the back half of this home-and-home series.

Tickets are currently on sale at the Vipers' office (2255 Crowchild Trail NW), you can also call 403-277-2255 or visit the Calgary Vipers' website: www.calgaryvipers.com.
