EDMONTON, Alberta (June 10, 2010) - The Edmonton Capitals edged Orange County in a pitchers duel, 3-1, at Telus Field in Thursday in the first game of a doubleheader. Doubleheaders in the GBL comprise two 7-inning games.

Flyers starter Jesse Smith pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings giving up just three hits before the Capitals began a two-out rally. Former major leaguer Cliff Brumbaugh's two-run double put the Caps up, 2-0, after five innings.

Edmonton starter Chris Little earned the win, pitching six scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out five.

The Flyers (7-8) got one run off reliever Chad Blackwell in the top of the seventh thanks to leadoff hits by Jimmy Rohan and Keith Ginter and a sac-fly RBI from Sergio Pedroza, but Blackwell battled back for his third save of the season.

Orange County and Edmonton continue the doubleheader with the first pitch of game two scheduled for approximately 8:50pm Mountain Time. The Flyers and Capitals will continue this series five-game Friday as Byung-Hyun Kim maks his fourth start of the season for the Flyers.
