
Veterans Reach Milestone Game

WINDSOR, CO â Tonight's game against the Odessa Jackalopes is a milestone game for two Eagles players. Right winger Greg Pankewicz is playing in his 900th game as a pro, and left wing Ryan Tobler is playing in his 500th professional game.
Pankewicz is playing in his 14th professional season. In 899 total games, the Drayton Valley, Alberta native has scored a remarkable 860 points. That is an average of almost one point per game (.957), and even more notable is the fact that he has scored almost as many goals (425) as assists (435). The experienced veteran has played 21 NHL games, three with the Ottawa Senators and 18 with the Calgary Flames. Last season with the Eagles, Pankewicz set a career high with 96 points and led the CHL in goals scored with 46. He played in the 2004 CHL All-Star Game and is slated to start for the Northern Conference again this year. The 6'0", 205-pounder was voted by the league's coaches, players, and media as the Best Overall Player in 2004. This season, Pankewicz leads the team with 33 points on 12 goals and 21 assists.
Ryan Tobler is playing in his seventh professional season, and second with the Eagles. In 499 games, he has scored 329 points on 126 goals and 203 assists. Tobler just passed the 1,500 penalty minute mark in the Eagles last game against the New Mexico Scorpions. He has played in four professional games with the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL where he recorded five penalty minutes. Tobler played 51 games for the Eagles last season before being called up to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He scored 79 points (30G, 49A) for the Eagles and was the team's leading scorer at the time of his departure. He also played in the 2004 CHL All-Star Game. Once called up to Wilkes-Barre, he played a total of 21 games including playoffs in which the Penguins made it all the way to the Calder Cup Finals. Tobler has scored 22 points (7G, 15A) in 17 games for the Eagles this season.
The Eagles take on the Jackalopes tonight for the first of four games in five days. The team will then travel to Amarillo tomorrow for the final game of a five-game road trip. The New Mexico Scorpions come to the Budweiser Events Center on New Year's Eve for a Northwest Division battle; that game will start at 7:05 pm MST. They will then get back on the bus and go to Wichita for another Northwest Division contest on New Year's Day.
