HARLINGEN - Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings third baseman Leivi Ventura tied the single-season United League Baseball home run record by hitting his 23rd of the season in the first inning on Thursday against Jeff Jamnik of the Laredo Broncos at Harlingen Field.

It was a two-run shot to left field on an 0-1 pitch.

Ventura becomes the third hitter in United League history to reach the mark. Ryan Fox, who played for the WhiteWings in 2007, was the first, while Jason Crosland, who plays for the San Angelo Colts, has also done it this year.
