Laredo Broncos News Release

The Broncos (45-43) took their first lead of the game in the top of the eighth on a D.J Dixon solo home run and the Broncos bullpen made it stand up to secure the 5-4 victory and pull even with the white Wings (45-43) for third place in the United League.

The Broncos sent RHP Jeff Jamnik (5-4) to the mound trying to stop the three game skid the Broncos are currently on, Rio Grande Valley countered with RHP Andres Rosales (4-4) trying to pick up a win and get the Wings into the playoffs.

After the Broncos were retired 1-2-3 in the top of the first Jeff Jamnik retired the first two batters he faced in the bottom half of the inning with ease. Yuery Tejeda chopped a single through the left side with two outs to reach base and Leivi Ventura ran into a fastball that put out of the ball park for a 2-0 White Wings lead.

In the top of the second Jonathan Cisneros worked a walk and moved to second base on a passed ball charged to Luany Sanchez. Carlos Arroyo with two outs singled up the middle to bring home Cisneros and cut the White Wings lead in half; 2-1.

The White Wings added a run to their lead in bottom of the fourth when Yeury Tejeda lead off with a single. After a pop out by Ventura and a strike out by Brian Nichols, Welington Dotel hit an RBI triple to push the Wings lead to 3-1.

In the top of the fifth, Nick Mahin, after a double play ball off the bat of Carlos Arroyo, crushed a ball over the left field wall for his tenth home run of the year and it cut the Wings lead to 3-2.

In the bottom of the sixth the Wings got a lead off double from Yeury Tejeda. A passed ball moved Tejeda to third base and he came home to score on Leivi Ventura's sacrifice, which made it a 4-2 Wings lead.

Rosales started the top of the seventh and Jonathan Cisneros reached on an infield single to begin the inning. Salvador Paniagua struck out after a ten pitch at bat and Carlos Arroyo drove in Cisneros who moved up to second base on a wild pitch to make the score 4-3 Wings. Arroyo stole second base and came home to score on the infield single by Maiko Loyola to tie the game at 4-4.

D.J Dixon led off the top of the eighth for the Broncos with a solo home run off of RHP Luis Montano (7-6), his fifth of the season, to give the Broncos a 5-4 lead off of RHP Luis Montano.

In the bottom of the eighth Maximinio De La Cruz pitched one third of an inning, Thomas Vessella pitched one third of an inning and Reyes Dorado closed out the eighth by retiring Welington Dotel by way of the strikeout and preserve the 5-4 Broncos lead.

Dorado stayed on to pitch the bottom of the ninth and close out the Broncos 5-4 victory. Dorado struck out both Arlon Quiroz and Dom Di Ricco before allowing a single to Roberto Rodriguez. With two outs and a runner at first Dorado struck out Javis Diaz to end the ball game and pick up save number seven on the year.
