Ventura Back in the Mix

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Kansas City Royals, have announced that pitcher Yordano Ventura has re-joined the Cougars roster, while pitcher Allen Caldwell has been promoted to Class-A Advanced Wilmington. Ventura will start tonight's 6:30 p.m. game at Elfstrom Stadium against the Cedar Rapids Kernels. This afternoon's transaction maintains an active roster of 25 players as the Cougars hold onto first place in the Midwest League's Western Division.

Ventura (Non-drafted free agent, 2008) has started 11 games this season for the Cougars and is 2-3 with a 5.19 ERA. Caldwell (12th round, 2008) joined Kane County on June 10 and as a Cougar, went 4-0 with a 2.39 ERA. .

CHRISTMAS IN JULY COMES TO ELFSTROM STADIUM THIS FRIDAY!

With Chicagoland baking in the hot summer sun and humidity, the Cougars are paying homage to the most wonderful time of the year this Friday as the organization celebrates Christmas in July on July 29. As part of the 7 p.m. game that evening, the Cougars have the following yuletide fun planned.

- Commemorative Christmas ornaments will be given to the first 1,500 fans through the gates, courtesy of Fox Valley Orthopedics.

- Fans can meet and have their picture taken with Santa. Fans can also take part in a pre-game parade with Jolly St. Nick.

- Do you have an ugly Christmas sweater' Are you an expert gift wrapper' The Cougars will be holding contests during the game to properly celebrate the theme.

- Fans can enjoy a post-game fireworks show choreographed to Christmas music!

Fans are also asked to bring new, unwrapped toys that will make Christmas a little brighter for families throughout Chicagoland.
