FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Luis Domoromo knocked in three runs and RHP Kevin Quackenbush grabbed a save in his first appearance as the TinCaps edged the Dayton Dragons, 5-4, Wednesday at Fifth Third Field.

LHP Mark Hardy won his fifth straight start, holding the hot-hitting Dragons scoreless through four innings and allowing a total of four runs in 5.2 innings.

The TinCaps dashed out to an early lead against all-star RHP Josh Smith. In the first, Cory Spangenberg and Rymer Liriano singled. With runners at second and third, Smith uncorked a wild pitch and Domoromo followed with an RBI groundout to make it 2-0.

In the third, Fort Wayne tacked on more. Chris Bisson reached to lead off the inning and was bunted to second. Spangenberg roped an RBI single to center and two batters later, Domoromo came up with a two-out RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.

The TinCaps manufactured a run in the fifth. Rico Noel was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. He stole second and went to throw on an errant pickoff throw, then scored when Domoromo flipped an RBI single to right to make it 5-0.

Dayton rallied from there; Billy Hamilton's infield single plated Juan Duran to get the Dragons on the board in the fifth.

An inning later, Tucker Barnhart rapped an RBI double to left to chase Hardy from the game.

Duran followed with a two-run double off the center-field wall to cut the lead to 5-4.

The Fort Wayne bullpen took it from there; RHPs Adam Dominick, Chris Franklin and Quackenbush combined to hold the Dragons scoreless for the final three innings of the game.

Hardy (8-7) was the winning pitcher while Smith (9-5) absorbed the walk. Quackenbush notched a save on his first day with the team; he picked up nine saves with Short-A Eugene.

The TinCaps upped their record to 17-14 in the half, 47-53 for the season. Dayton fell to 22-9 since the all-star break, 57-44 on the year as the Dragons' eight-game win streak was snapped.

The TinCaps and Dragons (Class-A Cincinnati Reds) continue the season Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Fort Wayne RHP Adys Portillo (2-9) goes to the mound against Dragons RHP Daniel Renken (5- 8).
