Quad Cities Overcome Two-Run Deficit in 6-2 Win

The Quad Cities River Bandits allowed two first inning runs only to come back and score three times in the bottom of the inning and never looked back in a 6-2 series-opening win over the Peoria Chiefs at Modern Woodmen Park on Wednesday.
Bandit starter Ryan Copeland (3-1) allowed two hits and two runs in the first inning, before settling down to pitch six scoreless innings and pick up his third consecutive victory. The lefty went seven innings allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six.
Quad Cities opened its scoring in the first inning when Victor Sanchez (1-for-4) hit a two-run double to tie the game at two. Cody Stanley (1-for-3) then grounded out to first scoring Sanchez to give the Bandits a 3-2 lead.
The Bandits scored another run in the second inning when Michael Swinson (2-for-3) hit an RBI single, scoring Kolten Wong (1-for-4). The Bandits added two more runs in the fifth inning when Oscar Taveras (2-for-4) scored on a wild pitch and Chris Edmondson hit a sacrifice fly to score Stanley.
Peoria Chiefs starter Starling Peralta (L, 1-3) pitched four innings allowing four runs on five hits while walking five to suffer his third loss of the season.
Dean Kiekhefer relieved Copeland, allowing just one hit and recording one strikeout over the final two scoreless innings.
The Bandits will continue the series tomorrow with the Peoria Chiefs on a Thirst-Day Thursday. It's also Reynolds Ford Used Car Night at the ballpark, where fans can enter for the chance to win one of five used cars to be given away. Right-hander Seth Blair (5-3, 5.05) will oppose lefty Eric Jokisch (7-3, 3.28). First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park.
