Las Vegas, Nev- The Las Vegas Wranglers® defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings again on Saturday night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre led by a two goal performance from Ryan Huddy. In only his second game back from his stint in the AHL Huddy notched two goals, both on the power play, an assist, and the first star of the night honor. Tyler Mosienko also tallied a goal and two assists for Las Vegas in only his second game back from his time in the AHL. Las Vegas native Eddied DelGrosso scored in the contest as well for the Wranglers after coming off back-to-back second star of the night recognitions in the previous two games. Joe Fallon turned away 29 of 31 improving his record to 15-7-1 as he knocked the Kings off for the second time this season in back-to-back nights at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Matt Butcher and Ryan Cleaver scored the two goals for Victoria in the match as the Wranglers hung four goals on the Kings in consecutive nights. David Shantz tallies back-to-back losses so far this weekend as his record falls to 13-16-3. Last night Las Vegas went 0-11 on the power play but tonight with the help from Ryan Huddy the Wranglers were able to go 2-9 while holding the Salmon Kings to one goal on four opportunities. The loss sends the Kings on a three losing streak compared to the Wranglers who now ride a three game winning streak. Victoria sits in last place in the Mountain division with 37 total points and an overall record of 14-24-23. Las Vegas sits atop the Pacific division as well as the Western conference with 55 total points and an overall record of 27-11-3.
The Wranglers, Las Vegas local Eddie DelGrosso, and returning captain Tyler Mosienko picked up where they left off the previous night by tallying the first two goals of the match. DelGrosso scored his third goal of the season at 5:46 of the first period assisted by Tyler Mosienko to give the Wranglers an early lead. Mosienko made it 2-0 at 7:45 of the first period with his seventh goal of the season assisted by Ryan Huddy and Barry Goers. After one period Las Vegas found the back of the net twice on their eleven shots but Victoria was scoreless with their ten shots.
The Salmon Kings would get on the board at 6:27 of the second period with Matt Butcher's second goal of the season assisted by Michael Wilson. Ryan Huddy extended the lead for the Wranglers again at 19:33 while on the power play with his twentieth goal of the season assisted by Tyler Mosienko and Chris Higgins. Las Vegas was still up by two goals after two periods, 3-1.
Huddy would notch his team leading twenty-first goal of the season at 5:19 of the third period, his second of the night both on the power play, assisted by Craig Switzer and Barry Goers to give Las Vegas a 4-1 lead. The Salmon Kings and Ryan Cleaver answered back with a power play goal at 9:50 of the final period to make it 4-2, but just like the night before the deficit was too large and the Wranglers earned the win opening up the possibility for a road sweep tomorrow afternoon.
After tomorrow afternoon's 1:05pm start in Victoria the Wranglers will return home to host the Stockton Thunder for the first time this season on February 1st.
