Player of the Week Nominee: This week's Player of the Week nominee is Francis Lemieux who posted seven points (5g, 2a) in three games this past week. Lemieux tallied two goals and two assists in Florida's 7-3 win at Toledo on Friday, then recorded his third hat-trick of the season in the Everblades' 7-4 loss on Saturday.
Special Teams Breakdown: Entering this week, here's a look at the Everblades power play and penalty killing: On the power play the Everblades rank 6th in the ECHL at 18.7 % (47-of-251)...at home the Blades are ranked 6th in the league at 18.7 % (20-of-107)...on the road the Everblades rank 8th at 18.8 % (27-of-144). On the penalty kill the Everblades find themselves 3rd in the ECHL at 86.3 % (196-of-227)...at home the Everblades enter the week ranked 5th at 85.7 % (90-of-105)...on the road the Blades are currently 3rd at 86.9 % (106-of-122).
League Leaders: Coming into this week Everblades forward Francis Lemieux continues leading the ECHL in scoring with his 59 points and is tied for third in the ECHL in assists with his 34. Forward Alex Imbeault finds himself in the league lead in goals scored with 27 and leading the ECHL in power play goals with 13.
Can't Keep Your Hats On: Everblades forwards Francis Lemieux and Alex Imbeault seem to be in a one-ups battle when it comes to hat-tricks lately. The pair have combined to register six hat-tricks this season and four (two each) in the month of January. The latest three-goal games saw Imbeault collect his third hat-trick of the year in Friday's 7-3 win over Toledo, only to be matched by Lemieux with his third hat-trick of the season in Saturday's 7-4 loss to Toledo.
Who's Hot: Several Everblades are currently riding hot streaks. F Francis Lemieux has picked up 10 points (8g, 2a) in the last four games...F Alex Imbeault has five points in the last two games...F Matt Beca has picked up points in seven of the last ten games (5g, 6a)...D David Fischer has points in seven of the last nine games (2g, 6a).
Numerology: For those who think it's in the numbers, here's some to chew on: When the Everblades score five goals or more in a game they are unbeaten in regulation at 11-0-1...when the Everblades allow four goals or more they are 2-12-1...when the Everblades are tied entering the third period of a game they are 0-4-1...the Blades might want to scrap three-game-in-three-nights sets - they are 0-6-0 in the first game of such a set - although, they are 5-1-0 in the second game of such a set...lastly - Wednesday works for me, but Thursday isn't good for me - on Wednesdays this year the Everblades are an impressive 8-1-0, but on Thursdays, the Blades are winless going 0-4-0.
Pink in the Rink!: In less than a month the Everblades will be holding their annual "Pink in the Rink" weekend. On February 18 & 19 when the Blades host the Gwinnett Gladiators, the Everblades will team up with local cancer charities to help raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer. The team will wear special jerseys that will be auctioned off live following the game on Saturday, February 19, with proceeds benefiting local SW Florida cancer charities. Additionally Radiology Regional Center will be on hand for Saturday's game and will have their state-of-the-art Mobile Mammo Coach outside the arena from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for these games!
