Aces wear down Condors

The Aces scored four unanswered goals, including three in the third period to come from behind to beat the Bakersfield Condors 4-1 on Saturday night at Sullivan Arena. The Aces have now won two straight over the Condors, and three straight overall. Alaska improved to 24-15-2, and retained the highest winning percentage in the Mountain Division. The Aces and Condors cap a three-game set on Sunday afternoon at 5:00pm. Tickets are currently available. After a scoreless first period, the Condors struck first early in the second. Stephane Goulet was left untouched at the top of the crease, took a pass, and scored at 2:54 of the second period. The Aces answered later in the frame when Wes Goldie scored on a floating shot through a screen from the left point at 15:40.

The Aces finally pulled away in the third. Zach Harrison scored 24 seconds into the frame to give the Aces their first lead. Then Scott Howes scored on a power play on a third whack at a rebound at 6:53 to extend the lead to 3-1. Bryan Miller capped the scoring with a five-on-three power play goal at 15:49 to make it 4-1.

Gerald Coleman (19-10-1) made 16 saves on 17 shots, earning the win. Josh Tordjman (14-12-1) suffered the loss, making 44 saves on 48 shots. The Aces power play went 3-8, while the Condors went 0-5. The Aces outshot the Condors 48-17 in the game.

The Aces and Condors conclude their series on Sunday. During the game, the Aces will welcome their 100,000th fan of the season. The 100,000th fan to enter the arena this season will win 25,000 Alaska Airline Miles, a GCI GSM handset - including two months of free service, and an Aces team autographed GCI warm-up jersey. Additionally on Sunday, fans 12 and under will receive Aces/Burny the Bear t-shirts and Boomer coloring books, courtesy of the Department of Public Safety. The game begins at 5:00pm, and following the contest, fans can Skate with the Aces at the Sully.
