Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Gesa Stadium - Pasco, WA) - Vancouver's offense took center stage on Friday night pounding out a season-high 17 hits to snap a three-game losing streak as they beat Tri-City 10-4 in the final game of a five-game series out at Gesa Stadium.
Every Canadians hitter in the line-up had a base-hit on Friday including 1B Art Charles who went 3-for-5 with two runs scored to pace the Vancouver offense. 3B Kellen Sweeney also went 3-for-5 which included his 11th double of the season. LF Dwight Smith Jr., SS Jorge Flores, DH Jason Leblebijian and 2B Dan Arcila had two hit nights for the Canadians.
Canadians starter RHP Taylor Cole hadn't given up a run in 24 innings until he ran into the Tri-City offense who managed three runs off of him in the bottom of the 1st inning which would be the only runs he would give up over his six innings of work. Dust Devils C Tom Murphy had a single in the inning which extended his Northwest League hitting streak to a season high 20 games.
Cole would settle down and strike out seven and improve to 4-0 on the season with his ERA remaining at a microscopic 1.10 over his eight starts in Vancouver.
