Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Gesa Stadium - Pasco, WA) - For the second straight night the Vancouver Canadians ran into the combination of tough pitching and explosive offense as Tri-City scored a quartet of runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to pull away for a 5-1 victory on Thursday night. The loss was Vancouver's third straight.

Vancouver managed their lone run on the night in the top of the 2nd inning when 3B Jason Leblebijian reached base on an error charged to SS Rosell Herrera before eventually coming around to score when he stole home off of Tri-City starter RHP Shayne Broyles who struck out eight Canadians on the night to improve his record to 4-2 on the season.

Vancouver starter LHP Kyle Anderson was effective over his five innings of work scattering six hits while giving up just one run before turning the ball over to the bullpen.

RHP Jon Lucas came into pitch the bottom of the 6th inning and ran into trouble immediately as he gave up five base hits including an RBI single to 1B Matt Argyropoulos that scored LF Francisco Sosa that ended up being the game's winning run.

Canadians reliever LHP Colton Turner came in to get the inning's final out, but instead uncorked a wild pitch that allowed 3B Alec Mehrten to score from third base making it 5-1 Dust Devils.

With the loss, Vancouver falls to 10-7 (.588) on the second half and now lead Salem-Keizer by just 1 1/2 games in the West Division after the Volcanoes topped Spokane 7-6 in 10 innings on Thursday night.
