Boise Hawks News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - Dan Vogelbach hit a pair of solo home runs and the Boise bullpen tossed four shutout innings of relief, as the Hawks rallied to defeat the Everett Aquasox, 3-2, before 3,788 fans at Everett Memorial Stadium.
The win pushes the Hawks record to a season-best 11-5, the best record in the Northwest League in the second half, three-games up on Tri-City and four games up on both Spokane and Yakima in the East.
Vogelbach hit a leadoff homer in the second inning to erase an Everett lead, then tied the game in the seventh, crushing a mammoth homer over the retaining wall of the right field pavilion. The lefty has homered in four-straight games.
Boise would score the winning run in the eighth, as Izaac Garsez tripled off the wall in right, scoring on a Gioskar Amaya sacrifice fly.
Tyler Bremer would work out of a first and second jam in the eighth inning, then strike out the side in the ninth for his first save of the season.
Everett took a quick first inning lead as Marcus Littlewood doubled and scored on a Mike Zunino single. Zunino singled to lead off the third and scored the go-ahead run on an Alfredo Morales base hit.
Matt Iannazzo got the win, tossing two shutout innings, striking out two for the Hawks, while Mark Bornardano took the loss for the Aquasox, walking two in two innings.
The final game of the series is tomorrow night, with Ian Dickson meeting Dylan Unsworth at 7:05 p.m. (PT).
