(Gesa Stadium - Pasco, WA) - A five-run rally in the top of the 7th inning helped Vancouver (1-3) to a 9-5 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils (3-1) on Friday night in Pasco, WA in front of 3,014 fans. The win snapped the Canadians four game losing skid while ending the Dust Devils seven-game winning streak.
Vancouver got on the board with a trio of runs in the top of the 3rd inning as 2B Jon Berti would lead the frame off with a triple to right field and come in to count on a single from LF Matt Newman. From there, CF Jon Jones would single off of Tri-City starter RHP Vianney Mayo before DH Balbino Fuenmayor doubled home Newman. A groundout from RF Nick Baligod cashed in Jones to help the Canadians to a 3-0 lead.
Canadians starter RHP Zack Breault would go four strong innings scattering three hits while striking out five before giving way to the bullpen. RHP Bryan Longpre would come in a give up an unearned run after CF Brian Humphries reached on a throwing error and came around to score cutting the Vancouver margin to 3-1.
A five-run top of the 7th inning gave the C's some much needed breathing room as Vancouver would send nine hitters to the plate including DH Balbino Fuenmayor who grabbed a pair of RBI with a hard hit single, one of six hits in the frame extending the Vancouver lead to 8-1.
A shaky bottom of the 9th saw Canadians reliever RHP Eric Brown scuffle giving up four runs on three hits including a two-run double from DH Leo Reyes. Brown was able to get C Ryan Casteel to ground out to end the rally and help Vancouver snap a four-game losing streak while ending the Tri-City winning streak at seven games.
