Van Slyke Rejoins Isotopes

Infielder Scott Van Slyke was activated today, August 21, after being optioned to the Albuquerque Isotopes by the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 19. Rusty Ryal was placed on the disabled list with a left calf strain.

Van Slyke, 27, is making his fourth stint of the season with Albuquerque. The 6-foot-5 Missouri native is hitting .347 with 12 homers and 41 RBI in 52 games with Albuquerque this season. He opened the season with the Isotopes. He played in two games for the Dodgers during his most recent call up, collecting three hits in eight at bats with an RBI. Overall, Van Slyke is batting .252 with six homers and 16 RBI in 38 games with Los Angeles this year.

Ryal has spent all of 2013 with the Isotopes. He has started 67 games for Albuquerque at first base hitting .265 on the season with 17 doubles, four homers and 49 RBI in 106 games.

The Isotopes open their final homestand of the 2013 regular season tonight with a five-game set against the Nashville Sounds. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM MDT. Righty Matt Magill (4-1, 3.04) gets the nod for Albuquerque against Nashville's righty Jimmy Nelson (3-5, 3.78).
