Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Northwest League has released the 2015 All-Star roster for the inaugural Northwest League vs. Pioneer Baseball League All-Star Game. The event will be hosted at Avista Stadium, home of the Spokane Indians, on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Two members of the Tri-City Dust Devils, shortstop Peter Van Gansen and left-handed pitcher Elvin Liriano, have been named to the team.
Van Gansen is fourth in the league in batting average at .317 and third in hits with 44. Defensively he is the top shortstop in the league with a .978 fielding percentage. He was a 12th round selection in this year's draft out of Cal Poly, where he was named the Big West Conference defensive player of the year and led the conference in runs.
Liriano has been outstanding out of the Tri-City bullpen this year, posting a 2-0 record with a 1.31 ERA in 12 appearances. He has 28 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings pitched, which gives him the fifth-best strikeout percentage among Northwest League relievers. He was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent from the Dominican Republic in 2010.
All eight NWL teams are represented on the roster, including MVP candidate LeDarious Clark, starting center fielder for the Spokane Indians and Jared Miller, the ringleader of Hillsboro's dominant pitching staff. Other notables include Salem-Keizer's Chris Shaw, the 31st overall pick by the San Francisco Giants in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft, and Boise's Kevin Padlo, one of the Colorado Rockies' top prospects. The projected starting lineup for the Northwest League is:
P Jared Miller, Hillsboro Hops, representing the Arizona Diamondbacks
C Miguel Gomez, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, representing the San Francisco Giants
1B Brian Mundell, Boise Hawks, representing the Colorado Rockies
2B Dylan Moore, Spokane Indians, representing the Texas Rangers

OF Zach Nehrir, Hillsboro Hops, representing the Arizona Diamondbacks

"It's exciting to see a single team highlighting some of the best prospects from the Northwest League" said Mike Ellis, President of the Northwest League. "The city of Spokane is going to experience a great baseball contest, and both leagues are very excited to be a part of the event."
Honorary managers for the game include Dust Devils owner and Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famer George Brett (Pioneer Baseball League) and Spokane native Mike Redmond (Northwest League).
The Dust Devils are in the midst of an eight-game homestand that will continue until Sunday, August 2nd.
