Chase Vallot hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Lexington Legends a 6-4 win over the Rome Braves Friday night in front of 7,830 fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, the largest crowd of the season.

The win gave the Legends a split of the four-game series.

Rome led 4-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Legends cut the lead to one when Wander Franco doubled and Brandon Downes followed with his 14th home run of the season.

Lexington's Luis Villegas led off the bottom of the eighth with a home run to tie the game at 4-4.

Rome threatened in the ninth, loading the bases with one out, but reliever Jake Newberry entered the game and struck out Ryan Gebhardt and Bryan De La Rosa to preserve the tie.

Downes led off the bottom of the ninth with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice by Samir Duenez before Vallot delivered his game-winning drive over the bleachers in left field.

Newberry (4-2) got the win. Evan Phillips (1-2) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends will begin a five-game series against the West Virginia Power Saturday night in Charleston. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
