Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
SALISBURY, Md. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds, Class-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, have released their schedule for the 2016 season. As with previous years, the schedule will feature 70 home games at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium and 70 road contests.
After beginning the season with a seven-game road trip, Delmarva will open the home slate on April 14 against the Hagerstown Suns (Washington Nationals affiliate). The first homestand of 2016 will feature four games against the Suns before a three-game series versus the Greensboro Grasshoppers (Miami Marlins affiliate).
The second homestand of April will provide fans with the future of some of the Orioles' biggest division rivalries. The Greenville Drive (Boston Red Sox affiliate) will be in town April 26-28 while the Charleston RiverDogs (New York Yankees affiliate) will square off against the Shorebirds April 29-May 2.
Memorial Day weekend will feature a series against the Lakewood BlueClaws (Philadelphia Phillies affiliate) May 26-29. The Shorebirds will remain at home for Memorial Day itself on May 30 when they open a series against the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers affiliate) that day.
Delmarva will also be home on Monday, July 4th for the team's annual Independence Day Bash. The contest that night will also be against Lakewood and kicks off a seven-game homestand. The Shorebirds will then be making a road trip to face the newest member of the South Atlantic League, the Columbia Fireflies, July 12-14.
August will provide plenty of opportunities for fans to spend their weekends at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Shorebirds will have weekend series against the West Virginia Power (Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate, August 4-7), Lakewood (August 19-22) and the Lexington Legends (Kansas City Royals affiliate, August 26-28).
The 'Birds will wrap up the season with a four-game series versus the Kannapolis Intimidators (Chicago White Sox affiliate) on Labor Day weekend September 2-5.
