Vallorani Powers Beast to 6-3 Win over Fuel

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - David Vallorani continued his run of red-hot play with a two-goal performance to power the Brampton Beast to a 6-3 triumph over the Indy Fuel on Wednesday afternoon at the Powerade Centre.
Because of his two tallies, the 27-year-old now has eight goals and seven assists over his past 11 contests, which includes the game-winning markers in each of the past two games. He leads the Beast with 13 goals, and is tied with David Pacan for the team lead in points with 24
Pacan, Luc-Olivier Blain, Brandon Marino and Scott Jacklin scored the other goals, and Luke Pither chipped in three assists, for the Beast (10-7-1-2), who are now on a two-game winning streak.
Brampton starting goaltender Zach Fucale turned aside 32 shots to notch his seventh victory of the season, which tied the season-high win total that Trevor Cann secured for the Beast last season.
The close to 5,000 Peel Region school students that were on hand to watch this matinee matchup were treated to a first period that saw the two teams combine for five goals and 28 shots.
Pacan drew first blood for the Beast with a power-play goal at 5:39 by batting a puck out of mid-air into a wide-open cage after it bounced to him during a wild scramble in front of the crease.
Indy replied with a flurry of three goals in four minutes and forty-four seconds. Matt Rupert struck first on a power play at 8:15 with a close-range forehand shot to knot the game at one; Tyler Currier scored the equalizer at 10:02 by rifling a rebound past Fucale, and Alex Wideman lifted the Fuel to a two-goal edge at 12:59 with a hard slap shot.
Vallorani responded for the Beast with a desperation shot from a bad angle that deflected off of a defenseman's leg past Fuel starting netminder Eric Levine to pull his team within a goal heading into the first intermission.
Indy outshot Brampton 16-12 in the frame.
After killing off an early Fuel power-play chance to start the second period, Brampton simply refused to share the puck. The Beast's commanding puck possession play powered them to a 3-0 advantage in goals in the stanza.
Blain started the scoring parade for the home side by slamming home a hard slap shot from the slot past Levine at 4:55 to tie the game.
Vallorani lifted the Beast to their second lead of the afternoon at 7:44 by knocking the rebound of a Pither shot into the net with only one hand on his stick.
Beast Captain Marino lifted the Beast to a two-goal edge at 13:33 by batting a backhand shot through the pads of an unsuspecting Levine after he located his own rebound.
The Beast managed to force the Fuel attackers to the perimeter of the attacking zone for the rest of the period to preserve the multi-goal advantage.
Indy did mount a push in the third period to try and climb back into the game by outshooting the Beast 9-6, but very few of their bids were dangerous.
Jacklin scored an empty net goal with 1:06 remaining in regulation time to lift the Beast to their first three-goal victory of the season.
Indy outshot Brampton 35-33 in the game.
Levine stopped 27 of 32 shots in a losing cause.
The Beast will hope their momentum from this victory carries over to their two-game home series against the Wheeling Nailers. Game one of this divisional showdown is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Friday night.
Notes: The Beast went 1-for-1 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. The Beast are 4-for-13 in December on the man advantage (30.7 percent). The Beast are now 6-1 in games where their starting goaltender records a .900 save percentage or greater.
