Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (9-10-2-0) fell to the Ft. Wayne Komets, 2-0 on Wednesday night, in the second game of a six-game homestand.
After Cincinnati had a goal disallowed due to goaltender interference in the opening minutes of the first period, the Komets tallied the first official goal of the game when forward Mason Baptista found the back of the net to put Ft. Wayne up, 1-0, 4:04 into the first period.
The Komets took that 1-0 lead in to the locker room after 20 minutes, and in the second the Cyclones got the majority of the offensive chances, outshooting Ft. Wayne 11-4 in the period. Despite the opportunities in the middle frame, including three hit goal posts, Cincinnati could not find the back of the net, and the Komets held on to their 1-0 lead through 40 minutes.
Cincinnati got a few more chances in the third, however an empty-netter by Komet forward Mike Cazzola with 50 seconds to go sealed the game and sent Ft. Wayne to a 2-0 win.
Cincinnati outshot the Komets, 23-17, with goaltender Michael Houser stopping 15 in the loss. The Cyclones are back on home ice on Friday night when they welcome in the Quad City Mallards. Face-off is slated for 7:35pm ET.
