Troy, NY- The Tri-City ValleyCats beat the Staten Island Yankees 10-6 before 3,459 in game two of a three game series at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.-0

Staten Island scored a run in the second inning. The fireworks started with two outs. Robert Villanova walked and went to second on a single by P.J. Pilittere. Estee Harris hit a base hit that brought Villanova home for the early 1-0 Staten Island lead.

The ValleyCats got one back in the bottom of the inning. Francisco Caraballo got on base when Marcos Vechionacci booted a ground ball at second base. He advanced to second base on another error and went to third on single by Brandon Averill. Edgar Babilonia grounded into a double play. Averill was erased and there were two outs for Brady Koch. He singled home Caraballo to tie the game at 1-1.

Staten Island scored a run in the fifth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Then Tri-City scored three runs in a big way in the sixth inning. Ben Zobrist walked and Mario Garza followed with a strikeout. Then Hunter Pence laced a single with Zobrist moving up to second base. Zobrist moved up to second base on the single and came around to score on a single by Francisco Caraballo. Brandon Averill flew out to leftfield. Edgar Babilonia responded by hitting a ball down the left-field line. Estee Harris camped under the ball and seemingly gave up on it as it approached the left-field line. The ball dropped in fair territory. Pence and Caraballo scored and it was 4-2.

Staten Island got one back in the seventh inning and Tri-City got three more runs in the seventh thanks to a home run by Mario Garza. He drilled a fly ball to centerfield that put the ValleyCats ahead by four runs at 7-3. It was the third straight day Garza has hit a home run. He now leads the New York Penn. League in home runs and RBI's.

The ValleyCats got three more runs across the plate in the eighth inning. Brandon Averill led off with a single and advanced to second base on a groundout. Caraballo motored around third base and scored when Lance Koenig came to bat for Brady Koch. Drew Sutton came up. Luke Barganier flew out to the shortstop Plumley for out number two. Ben Zobrist walked and the bases were loaded for Mario Garza. He walked and Sutton came home. Koenig scored when Garza walked. Then Drew Sutton scored when Yankees reliever Brad Blackley let a wild pitch go past the catcher Pilittere.

The Yankees scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning. Justin Christian hit a two-run home run to round out the scoring at 10-6. The ValleyCats are back in action to finish out their three game series with Staten Island Thursday night. Raymar Diaz goes for Tri-City. Game time is set for 7:00. The game can be heard in the Capital Region on AM 1160 WABY Mechanicville and AM 900 WUAM Saratoga Springs.
