Lansing Lugnuts News Release
The Lansing Lugnuts announced the following roster changes, in conjunction with the Oakland Athletics:
- Infielder Sahid Valenzuela promoted to Double-A Midland
- Outfielder Jonny Butler placed on the Injured List
A native of Somerton, Ariz., the 24-year-old Valenzuela was drafted in the 13th round in 2019 from Cal State Fullerton. In 22 games with the Lugnuts, he slashed .159/.209/.175 with one double and two runs batted in. Butler, 23, departed Saturday night's game against Fort Wayne after landing heavily on a diving catch attempt in the top of the ninth. In 31 games, the former NC State standout is slashing .262/.333/.379 with seven doubles, one triple, one home run and three stolen bases.
Please note that pitcher Jake Walkinshaw was removed from the Injured List on the roster due to his rehab stint in the Arizona Complex League.
Coming off a 10-0 victory last night, the Lansing Lugnuts (25-39) play the second game of a six-game home series with the Beloit Sky Carp (29-34, Miami Marlins) at 1:05 p.m. Eastern this afternoon. For more information, visit lansinglugnuts.com or call (517) 485-4500.
