United announced today the team, in partnership with its non-profit arm, United for D.C., will be holding a silent auction of 2005 game-worn United jerseys during Sunday's playoff game against the Chicago Fire. Sunday's game kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on espn2.
"Our fans constantly ask for ways to raise funds for the charity while being closer to our players," stated Catherine Marquette, Executive Director of United for D.C. and Community Relations Director of D.C. The silent auction will begin when gates open at 3:00 p.m. and will be located on RFK Stadium's concourse just inside of the Main Gate. Bids will be accepted until the end of halftime, or approximately 5:35 p.m. Up to twelve authentic game-worn jerseys will be auctioned. Minimum bids will begin at $150.00. All funds raised from the auction will assist United for D.C. with operating its United Reads, Kicks for Kids and United Community Grant programs.
