
Union Overtake NYCFC for First Place in the Eastern Conference; Remain Undefeated at Subaru Park

CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union defeated New York City FC 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Subaru Park. With the win, the Union are now in first place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points. In the first half, forward Mikael Uhre scored his third goal of the season on a left footed shot from the center of the box, assisted on a cross by Alejandro Bedoya. The second half included four yellow card cautions, in addition to a Union bench ejection. In the second half, New York City FC forward Valentin Castellanos scored on a penalty kick in the 89th minute. Union midfielder Jose Martinez responded with a stoppage time strike from outside the box, redirected by forward Cory Burke, to find the back of the net and give the Union the 2-1 victory.
The Union are back on the road at Soldier Field on Wednesday, June 29th where they will play Chicago Fire FC (8:00 p.m. ET / PHL17).
