Vancouver Whitecaps FC News Release
VANCOUVER, BC Vancouver Whitecaps FC recorded a 0-0 draw against Eastern Conference side New England Revolution at BC Place on Sunday evening.
One of the best chances of the first half for the Blue & White arrived in the 35th minute following a run from Cristian Dájome, ending with his strike from long range ending up in the hands of Revolution goalkeeper Djorde Petrović.
The beginning of the second half saw Revolution winger Dylan Borrero's strike hit the crossbar in the 53rd minute with his squad looking to find the opening goal.
The 'Caps responded, and threatened the Revolution throughout the second half. In the 59th minute, Lucas Cavallini's hold up play on the right flank of the field found Andrés Cubas. The midfielder placed a short pass to Dájome inside the area, who's shot was saved by Petrović in the 59th minute.
The 'Caps continued with their momentum later on, with a shot from Marcus Godinho stopped and a left footed shot from Cavallini outside the box curling over the netting in the 61st minute.
In the 80th minute, Brian White drove down the left flank and centred to Cavallini in the box, who was then found Russell Teibert who had his shot blocked.
Pressing in the late stages, midfielder Ryan Gauld found White at the top of the box, with the striker's low right footed shot parried away in the 84th minute of the match.
The 'Caps would have one more good opportunity a minute later when Ryan Gauld found Cavallini on a cross. The Canadian international chested it down and tip-toed the sideline, but had his close range shot kept out.
Whitecaps FC continue their homestand with a Western Conference showdown against LAFC next Saturday, July 2. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT. For tickets, visit whitecapsfc.com/tickets.
