
Union net three goals in victory in first leg of the CCL quarterfinals

CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union earned a big win against Atlanta United FC in a 3-0 road victory in the first leg of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals on Tuesday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Prior to the match, Atlanta had never been scored on at home in CCL play, and had never lost a CCL match on their home field. The first half remained scoreless for both sides with Andre Blake recording six saves in the first half to keep the Union alive. In the second half, the Union took the lead after Kai Wagner found Kacper Przybylko from a corner to open the scoring in the 57'. In the 73' Przybylko netted his second of the game making it 2-0. Nine minutes after being subbed on, Anthony Fontana scored the third for the Union to seal the 3-0 victory in Atlanta. Blake picked up his third consecutive clean sheet of the tournament.
The second leg of the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions league will be played back home at Subaru Park on May 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The Union return to MLS play on Saturday where they will face New York City FC. (7:30 p.m. ET / PHL 17).

TEAM NOTES
With the win, the club remains undefeated in the Concacaf Champions League tournament.
The Union are the first team to both score and win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in CCL play, as well as giving Atlanta the worse loss suffered on their home field across all competitions.
Kacper Przybylko recorded a brace and added an assist and has now scored in all three CCL matches for a total of four goals.
Anthony Fontana scored the third goal of the match for his second goal overall in CCL play.
Leon Flach and Kai Wagner both registered assists in tonight's match.
Andre Blake recorded seven saves on the night for his third consecutive clean sheet of the tournament.
The Union return to MLS play on Saturday where they will face New York City FC. (7:30 p.m. ET / PHL 17).
