Philadelphia Union News Release
Chester, Pa. (May 16, 2011) - Philadelphia Union (4-2-2, 13 points) return to PPL Park after a very busy week for Peter Nowak's squad that ended with a 1-1 tie and a 2-0 loss against the LA Galaxy and FC Dallas, respectively. Still in second place in the Eastern Conference, just one point behind the NY Red Bulls, the Union host the Chicago Fire (1-3-5, 8 points) on Saturday, May 21st, at PPL Park. The match will be broadcast live nationally on Galavision and locally on Comcast SportsNet at 8:00 p.m. EST. The 30-minute pregame show will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST on CSN.
After debuting the Union's first ever reserve squad with a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday, April 3rd, Coach Brendan Burke and his group return to action on Monday, May 16th at 4:00 p.m. EST. The team, composed of Union first team players, youth academy members and trialists, will host D.C. United at Chester Park in Wallingford, Pa. in a game that is open to the public. Due to weather conditions, the match could be moved to the Bob Urban Field of Dreams, also in Wallingford, Pa., so please, contact a member of the Communications Department if you are planning to attend.
D.C. is off to a good start in the MLS Reserve Division as the Black-and-Red have won their first two matches 3-2 and 4-1 against Columbus Crew at home and at New England Revolution, respectively. Brettschneider and Boskovic have been the main playmakers on attack for D.C., as they have three and two goals, respectively, of the seven scored so far. The Union's Jack McInerney and Chris Agorsor have one tally apiece coming into today's match.
