Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Monday, May 16, 2011) - Real Salt Lake will break up a lengthy homestand this Sunday, May 22, when the Claret-and-Cobalt will head to the Lone Star State to take on FC Dallas in a rematch of last season's heated Western Conference Semifinal playoff series. Kickoff between RSL and the "Hoops" is slated for 5:00 p.m. MT at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. Following the first-team showdown, the two sides will then square off in a MLS Reserve League contest on the Pizza Hut Park stadium field, with the Central/Mountain Division affair starting approximately a half hour after the League fixture.
RSL fans can follow the action live from Pizza Hut Park on KMYU 2.2 (Comcast 22 / Dish Network 12), with the telecast also including a 30-minute post-game wrap-up show. RSL Nation will also be able to track their Claret-and-Cobalt this Sunday through the club's official radio partners - ESPN 700, ESPN Deportes 1600 & Juan 106.1-FM - and online via the MatchDay Live streaming video feed on MLSsoccer.com (subscription required), the Official RSL Twitter Feed (@RealSaltLake) and the MLS MatchCenter stat-tracker on RealSaltLake.com.
Real Salt Lake (5-1-1, 16 pts.) will have plenty of motivation when it heads to Pizza Hut Park this weekend, most notably because FC Dallas (5-3-2, 17 pts.) leapt past the Utah side and into second place in the Western Conference standings this past weekend. Also on RSL's collective mindset will be the team's past visits to "Big D," as all nine trips to face Dallas have ended in defeat, including a heartbreaking 1-2 loss in the first leg of last year's Western Conference Semifinals that helped pave the way to a 2-3 aggregate series defeat for the Utahns.
In last year's regular season meetings it was FC Dallas ending Real Salt Lake's then-club-record 10-match undefeated streak via a 2-0 win in Frisco on July 17 before the Claret-and-Cobalt got revenge in Sandy on Oct. 16, their own 2-0 win snapping the Hoops' MLS-record-tying 19-game regular season unbeaten run. Real Salt Lake fell one game shy of equaling that record just a few weeks ago when its 18-game undefeated streak in League play - which began immediately after last July's loss in Frisco - came to an end in Portland on April 30.
