UFL To Hold Open Tryouts For The Omaha Beef

On Saturday May 15th more than 250 athletes were out hoping to catch the eyes of the Omaha Nighthawks coaching staff of the United Football League (UFL). The Open tryouts took place at Omaha Central High School.
Former Omaha Beef Defensive Coordinator Ken Stills, now Director of Operations for the Nighthawks, is excited to give the Beef players a work out with the Nighthawks and possibly join the team. With the Beef in the middle of their playoff push, Stills believes that members of the team can help the Nighthawks bring a great on field product to Omaha.
Jeff Sprowls, Managing Partner for the Beef is ecstatic to have an opportunity for his organization to work with the UFL on such a workout. Sprowls thinks with both the Beef and the Nighthawks working together they can attract the highest quality athletes to the Omaha community.
Both Stills and Sprowls believe this is a win-win situation, with both organizations benefiting from their combined efforts, and they are looking forward to working with each other in the coming months. Several Beef players who either didn't travel or were released by the Beef this year participated in the tryouts Saturday. These players were: David Horn (Nebraska), Kenny Wilson (Nebraska), Donald DeFrand (Nebraska), Richie Ross (Nebraska-Kearney), and A.J. Faulkner (Northwest Missouri State). The Beef return home Saturday May 22nd (Heroes Night) to the Civic Auditorium to take on their division rival Sioux City Bandits. Kickoff is schedule for 7:05pm. Dollar Daze returns to the Slaughter House with $1 beer, hotdogs, and sodas from 6-7pm. Fans are encouraged to call the Beef office to reserve their tickets at 402-346-2333.
