Two Towering Shots Take Owlz to 5th Straight Win

OREM - For the second straight night the Orem Owlz survived giving up two runs in the top of the 9th to come away with the 6-5 win over the Grand Junction Rockies. Left fielder, Alex Abbott, who sat last night's game, hit his second homerun of this series and finished with four RBI's for the Owlz.
Grayson Long got the start for the Owlz going three innings and giving up just one run to keep his ERA at 0.00 this season. Four more relief pitchers came in and held the Rockies scoreless until the final two innings of play.
Ranyelmy Mendoza went 2-4 and hit his team-leading sixth HR of the season to improve his batting average to .431. Yet again, it was an insurance run, scored in the bottom of the 8th inning, which proved to be the difference tonight. The Rockies second baseman, Anthony Brito, picked up two errors in the 8th with two outs to keep the Owlz at the plate. Catcher, Taylor Ward, then came in and hit a comebacker off the pitcher to drive home third baseman, Kenny Towns, for the final Owlz run.
The Rockies kept the game alive by scoring three runs in the top of the 8th inning and then two more in the 9th. But with two outs, left fielder, Cole Anderson, flied out to center to end the game and give the Owlz their 5th straight victory.
Orem improves to 7-0 on the year at home and they conclude the series tomorrow night against the Rockies. Make sure to bring all your family and friends out to the ballpark to cheer on the Owlz to victory followed by a fireworks celebration.
