GF ENDS SKID IN MISSOULA
The Voyagers ended their skid at two games Thursday, beating the Osprey 8-5. Great Falls scored right away, taking advantage of two errors in the first to go up 1-0. Dante Flores followed with a two-run single in the next inning, before three unearned Missoula runs tied it in the third. The teams exchanged runs in the fifth before the decisive seventh. Sikes Orvis broke the 4-4 tie with a two-run single, before Victor Velasquez doubled the advantage with a two-run knock of his own later to cap the four-run frame. The bullpen shut the Osprey down from there to give Great Falls their first win of 2015 over Missoula.
COUPLE OF FIRSTS
A pair of Great Falls relievers recorded firsts for their minor league careers in Thursday night's win, as right-hander Drew Hasler earned his first pro win, and fellow righty Danny Dopico collected his first pro save. Hasler gave up a run in his two innings of work, before turning things over to Dopico who faced the minimum over two scoreless frames of his own, earning just the second save of the season for the Voyagers.
SIX IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
Through 13 games, six has been the magic number for Great Falls. When the Voyagers have scored six or more runs this season, they have yet to lose, posting a 7-0 record in those contests. On the flip side, they're just 1-5 when they have been held to five runs or less, with the only win a 3-2 victory at home against Billings on June 24. In their eight wins so far this year, the Great Falls offense is averaging 9.4 runs/game, while they have been held to just 3.0 runs/game in their five losses. In three of their five losses, the Voyagers have managed just one or two runs. Great Falls is averaging 6.9 runs/game overall.
HOME SWEET ROAD?  Â
The road team has been dominant when the Voyagers and Osprey have gotten together over the last two years. In 2014, the road team won each of the clubs' eight first half meetings, and 11 of the 16 meetings overall. In three games this season the trend has continued, as the Osprey won this week's two games at Centene Stadium, before Great Falls rebounded to win last night at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.
