Two third period goals prove too much for Bears

The two net minders for each team dominated the first period. Kirk Daubenspeck turned aside 9 shots for the BEARS while his counterpart Adam Munro stopped a lot of rubber coming from the HERSHEY BEARS as well. The BEARS ended the period with a impressive 17 shots on goal. The teams combined for 26 shots but no goals to show for it after one.

The BEARS drew first blood in the second getting a goal from All-Rookie team member Mike Green, the assist went to Tomas Fleischmann. The goal was scored at the 4:39 mark of the second and was the young defenseman's 8th tally of the season. Kirk Daubenspeck and the BEARS took a 1-0 lead heading into the third period.

The third period turned out to be all Admirals on the score sheet. Fellow All-Rookie team member Martin St. Pierre added to his already impressive totals scoring the game-tying goal early in the third period to knot the game at 1-1. Daubenspeck kept the Admirals in check until The 18:13 mark of the third when Matt Keith sent the Norfolk fans home happy with his 25th goal of the season. Keith's goal would be enough to hold off the HERSHEY BEARS and give the Norfolk Admirals the 2-1 victory.

Notables: The BEARS out shot the Admirals 16-5 in the third period. Lawrence Nycholat sat out the game. Mike Green was awarded the games third star. The BEARS end the weekend with 99 points (42-21-5-10).

The BEARS take the ice in Philadelphia Friday night and return home for the final regular season home game Saturday when they take on the Binghamton Senators. The final regular season will feature the fan-favorite, player awards night. The festivities will begin at 6:45.
