Peoria, IL - The Peoria Rivermen scored four unanswered goals to beat the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Carver Arena. It was the last meeting of the season between the two West Division rivals.

The Knights jumped on the board just 69 seconds into the game. Eric Nystrom made a good effort to get free for a shot in the low slot. The puck hit the post and ricocheted to Steve Bancroft who threw in his third goal of the year.

The Rivermen tied the game on a great individual effort by Cam Keith. He walked down the left wing, shook off two checkers and beat Curtis McElhinney with a sharp-angled shot to make it 1-1.

Peoria had a powerplay later in the period. Just after it expired, the Rivermen broke in three on two and Gavin Morgan beat McElhinney with a top corner shot to put Peoria up 2-1 after two.

The Knights outshot the Rivermen 14-9 in the third period but Peoria would do all the scoring. David Backes converted a nifty feed from Mike Zigomanis to make it 3-1. Less than two minutes later, Peter Sejna scored on the powerplay to make it 4-1.

Curtis McElhinney took the loss in net with 26 save.

The Knights are now 34-29-3-10. They now head south to Texas for the final four games of the regular season. The Knights begin at Houston on Tuesday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. They'll play again in Houston on Friday at 7:35 p.m. before finishing with games in San Antonio on Saturday and Sunday.
