Hartford, Conn. - Marvin Degon's power play goal at 2:32 of overtime lifted the Hartford Wolf Pack (45-24-2-6) to a 3-2 victory over the Lowell Lock Monsters (28-35-6-7) at the Hartford Civic Center on Sunday evening. Lowell wins the season series with the second-place Wolf Pack, with a 4-2-2-0 record.

The Monsters got off to a good start in this Sunday matinee, establishing the 1-0 lead through 20 minutes and outshooting the Wolf Pack 11-6. Scott Kelman potted his fifth of the campaign at 8:18, with Cody McLeod and David Gove helping to set it up. Tyler Weiman started between the pipes for Lowell for the eighth time in the last nine games, and was perfect through 20 minutes.

Hartford's special teams changed the direction of the game in the second, scoring once with the man advantage and once shorthanded. Both tallies came off the stick of Nigel Dawes, who ran his season tally to 35 with the lamplighters. Lowell wasn't done, however, and Gove put an end to the second period Harford attack with his 17th of the season. He jammed in a loose puck in a goalmouth scramble to knot the score heading into the third period.

The Wolf Pack's defense tightened up in the third period, allowing just two shots despite being shorthanded a pair of times. Lowell got into penalty trouble of their own late in the period, taking back-to-back penalties, including a five-minute high sticking major, in the final three minutes. Regulation ended 2-2 with a 28-25 shot advantage for the home club.

In overtime, the Monsters dodged a bullet as Dawes fired a shot off the crossbar, narrowly missing on his bid for the hat trick. The pack eventually did end it on the tail-end of that major power play, with a tally by rookie Marvin Degon. His blast at 2:32 of the extra session made it 3-2 for the Wolf Pack.

The Monsters return home on Wednesday, April 12th against the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. The "Jerseys off our backs" raffle will continue on Wednesday, in which fans can purchase 20 raffle tickets for just $20 to win one of the Monsters game-worn red jerseys.
