Omaha, NE - The Peoria Rivermen got a hat trick from Mike Zigomanis to beat the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 5-1 on Saturday night at the Civic Auditorium. The loss spoiled the Knights' final home game of the regular season.

Brendan Buckley opened the scoring for Peoria, scoring off a shot from the right point just 1:26 into the game.

Zigomanis boosted that lead to 2-0 with a powerplay goal early in the second period, steering home a feed from Jon DiSalvatore. Zigomanis notched his second goal later in the period to make it 3-0 at 8:56.

The Knights got a goal back when Cam Cunning took a misplayed puck, raced down the right wing and beat goalie Chris Beckford-Tseu with a quick snap shot to make it 3-1 after two.

Zigomanis completed the hat trick with another powerplay goal halfway through the third period. DiSalvatore added one more powerplay marker in the final two minutes to make it 5-1.

Brent Krahn started the game and was lifted after allowing the second goal. He took the loss with 18 saves. Curtis McElhinney made 15 stops in relief.

The Knights are now 34-28-3-10. The loss coupled with the Iowa Stars' win in Chicago gives the Stars a three point edge in the chase for the last playoff spot in the division.

The Knights will finish the four-in-five weekend at Peoria on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
