
P-Bruins Defeat Falcons 6-1

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 6-1 Sunday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Jason MacDonald, Eric Nickulas, Kris Versteeg and three goals from Tyler Redenbach. The P-Bruins are now 41-29-1-5 on the season, 88 points and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
After a scoreless opening period, the P-Bruins exploded for five goals in the second. Redenbach scored three times in the period getting his first goal on the power play at the 8:33 mark on assists to Ben Walter and Bryan Schmidt. Only 49 second later, Nickulas made a perfect pass to Redenbach as he scored his second goal of the period. Walter had the second assist. The Falcons cut the P-Bruins lead in half with an even strength goal at the 10:33 mark from Marek Kvapil, with assists to Ryan Vesce and Doug O'Brien. Redenbach scored his third goal of the period at the 12:38 mark of the second when once again Nickulas got him the puck with Walter having his third assist of the evening. The P-Bruins took a 4-1 lead at the 13:45 mark of the period as Nathan Robinson fed MacDonald in the left face off circle. MacDonald slapped the puck past Falcons netminder Gerald Coleman with Chris Dyment getting the second assist. Providence headed into the second intermission leading 5-1 when Nickulas was awarded a penalty shot and scored.
In the third period, the P-Bruins added an insurance goal with 35.1 second left in the game. Versteeg made a steal and had a breakaway where he flipped the puck over the shoulder of Coleman as the P-Bruins went onto the 6-1 victory. With the victory, the P-Bruins are only one point behind the third place Manchester Monarchs with a game in hand and one head-to-head match-up remaining.
Jordan Sigalet stopped 25 of 26 shots for the P-Bruins, while Coleman stopped 20 of 26 shots for the Falcons. The P-Bruins went 1 for 2 on the power play, while Springfield went 0 for 4 on the man-advantage.
The P-Bruins hit the road Wednesday, April 12 versus the Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:05 p.m. The P-Bruins play their last regular season home game at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, April 14 versus the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:05 p.m. before finishing the season with two road games Saturday April 15 versus the Albany River Rats at the Pepsi Arena at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 16 versus the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Tsongas Arena at 4:05 p.m. Tickets are available online at providencebruins.com, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office and at all TicketMaster outlets.
