Two Runs All T-Bones Needed to Down RedHawks 2-1 As Laber Denied the Record

In the rubber match of the three-game series, the F-M RedHawks fell 2-1 to KC T-Bones in front of 4,229 fans on Business Day Special at Newman Outdoor Field on Thursday afternoon. Laber fired 7 strong, however, wasn't able to break franchise win record.
This time, the T-Bones struck first. With one out, Danny Richar drew a 6-pitch walk, and up came Matt Padgett. Seeing four pitches from Jake Laber, the fifth one disappeared over the center field wall, as he lifted a mammoth shot to the deepest part of the ballpark for a 2-0 Kansas City lead.
The Fargo-Moorhead's line-up was able to produce only one base hit throughout the first five innings, and that was C.J. Retherford's one-base hit to a first baseman. Besides him, only two other players reached first safely, one walk (to Sawyer Carroll) and a fielder's choice to Frank Salerno.
That have changed two innings later. After the 4,229 fans stretched out, bottom of the seventh inning brought a first run for the 'Hawks. With one out, Retherford found a gap between third baseman and the shortstop for a single. After moving to second on a balk by Kyle DeVore, Retherford reached third on a fielder's choice 3-1 groundout by Ronnie Bourquin. Next up was Travis Higgs, who waited out his pitch and rope a 2-out single for first Fargo-Moorhead's run of the ballgame.
Visiting T-Bones possessed a threat in the top of the eight, when Christopher Bianchi reached on a Bourquin error. That wrapped up the game for Laber, who was replaced by Joe Harris. He gave up a sinle to Vladimir Frias to put runners on first and second, however, he fielded his position and played a sacrifice bunt by T.J. Mittelstaedt to third to keep the force in play. He would then caught Frias stealing third on a CS 1-5, and got Danny Richar to groundout to second baseman to end the game.
On the afternoon, the win went to Kyle DeVore (5-6), while Jake Laber suffered the loss (7-11), while being denied breaking the franchise win record (currently tied with Greg Salvevold at 45). Kris Regas shut the door on the RedHawks for his 21st save of the season.
