FREDERICK, MD - The Frederick Keys (13-18) used three two-run innings on their way to a 6-1 victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats (14-16) on Monday night at Nymeo Field. On a Major League rehab assignment, Jonathan Schoop played second base and went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk.

Schoop's hit provided insurance for the Keys in the sixth. With two men on, he hit a fly ball to left field off the very top of the wall. It allowed both runs to score, and capped off the scoring for the orange and black.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Keys got on the board. Randolph Gassaway singled, but was erased on a fielder's choice that put Jomar Reyes at first. Yojhan Quevedo then came up and launched his first home run of the year to make it 2-0 Keys.

Frederick then added two more in the fifth. Preston Palmeiro earned a two-out double, and Gassaway walked. Reyes followed that with a double down the left field line to score both runners.

In the sixth, Jose Medina hit a home run off of Keys starter Cristian Alvarado. The Keys would get that run back and one more on the Schoop double to make it 6-1.

Alvarado (4-2) picked up the win, producing his third quality start of the year. He allowed just one run on three hits over six innings. Tanner Tully (1-3) took the loss for Lynchburg. Over 4.2 innings, he allowed four runs on eight hits. Tyler Erwin picked up his second save by firing three scoreless innings and striking out a season-high six.

The Keys and Hillcats continue their series on Tuesday night. Left-hander Brian Gonzalez (1-2, 3.90) takes the mound for the Keys while the Hillcats have not announced their starter. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., and can be heard on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn Radio App.

The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. In 2017, the Keys received the Esurance Home Field Advantage Award for Carolina League for the second straight season, after leading the circuit in highest percentage of attendance based on ballpark capacity. The club will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2018.
