Spokane Chiefs News Release

The Spokane Chiefs are encouraging all fans to wear red on Saturday night when they host the Vancouver Giants in the Arena and Coca-Cola Buck Night. All night longs, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Cola products.

The game will be the final game before the Chiefs take a nine day break for the holidays and second in as many nights. The Chiefs will play at Everett on Friday night. Coming into this weekend's two games, Spokane has recorded a point in 11 straight games, their longest such streak since an 11 game winning streak in January, 2009.

It will be Spokane and Vancouver's second and final meeting of the season. The Chiefs earned a 3-2 shootout win last Friday night. Tyler Johnson had a goal and assist as Spokane outshot the Giants 45-22. The Chiefs were 2-5 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill and Blake Gal scored the only goal of the shootout.

The Chiefs were 2-1 last year, 1-1 in the Spokane Arena and 1-0 in Vancouver. Spokane and the Giants played each other in back-to-back postseasons, 2008 and 2009, with each team winning one of the series. The Chiefs defeated the Giants in six games in 2008 on their way to the Memorial Cup Championship and Vancouver beat Spokane in 2009 in seven games in the second round. Game five of that series was a four overtime contest and the second longest game in WHL history.

Tickets for all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK, TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT or by logging on to www.ticketswest.com.
