Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Calgary Hitmen 5-1 Friday night at the Saddledome in Calgary to close out its pre-Christmas WHL schedule on a winning note.
Brett Bulmer had a goal and three assists, Shane McColgan scored twice and Zac Stebner had a triumphant return to Calgary as the Rockets won the final two games of its road trip to finish with a 3-2 record in Alberta.
"It feels awesome," said Bulmer, on SHAW TV's post game show. "This was a long trip. Our guys battled. It's a credit to every guy in there. This was a good team win."
The win improved the team's record to 19-15-0-0 and into first place in the WHL BC Division, pending other game's Friday. Check the standings at HYPERLINK "http://www.whl.ca" www.whl.ca
Stebner, who helped Calgary win the WHL title last season, had a first period scrap and later jumped up in the play to convert a sweet feed from Bulmer for his first goal as a Rocket. Geordie Wudrick also scored, a highlight reel goal, that was his 16th of the season.
Players flew home for the Christmas break out of Calgary. They will return after the break to play three straight home games hosting Everett on Dec. 28, Kamloops on Dec. 30 and Spokane in the first ever New Year's Day game on Jan. 1.
