April 22, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release
DL Henry Taylor named the AFL's Best Defensive Player and Lineman at mid-season by the AFLWA; DB Levy Brown named Best Rookie
The Dragons defense has been on fire recently due to a number of players. Two were recognized by the AFL Writers' Association at the mid-way point of the season.
DL Henry Taylor earned the AFL's mid-season award for Best Defensive Player and Best Lineman, while DB Levy Brown named Best Rookie. Taylor was also named to the Defensive All-AFL Team at mid-season.
Taylor leads the league with 7.5 sacks. In the Dragons' latest contest, a 66-47 win over the Tampa Bay Storm, Taylor forced a fumble and recorded a sack. Taylor has 10.5 tackles on the season.
Along with the rest of the Dragons defensive line, Taylor has been putting significant pressure on the opposing quarterback for the past four games. In that span, the Dragons have allowed only 158 points for an average of 39.5 per game.
Brown, meanwhile, has 48 tackles and is tied with teammate John Walker with five interceptions on the season, which leads all rookies and is tied for fourth in the league. In his rookie season, Brown has been named the ADT Defensive Player of the Week, which was in Week 2.
