Cleveland's Amey, New Orleans' Lejeune, and San Jose's Geathers Earn Week 8 Honors

NEW YORK - Cleveland Gladiators WR OTIS AMEY, New Orleans VooDoo DB NORMAN LEJEUNE, and San Jose SaberCats WR/LB JASON GEATHERS have been named Offensive Player, ADT Defensive Player, and Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 8 of the 2008 season.

OFFENSIVE: Amey (5-10, 192, Sacramento St.) recorded Week 8 highs of 15 receptions, 208 receiving yards and six touchdowns as the Cleveland Gladiators (4-3) defeated the Los Angeles Avengers (3-5), 83-69, on Saturday. Amey recorded touchdown receptions of nine, 13, four, 30, nine and eight as the Gladiators offense scored on 12 of 15 possessions. Amey's 208-yard performance ranks second-highest in the League in 2008. Amey is only player to register six-or-more receiving touchdowns twice this season. Cleveland travels to Nassau Coliseum to face the New York Dragons (4-4) on Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. ET (FSN Ohio - Live, MSG Plus - Live) in a Mitsubishi Motors Eastern Division matchup.

ADT DEFENSIVE: LeJeune (6-0, 207, Louisiana St.) registered four-and-a half-tackles and two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown as the New Orleans VooDoo (6-2) defeated the Arizona Rattlers (3-4), 60-36, at U.S. Airways Center on Friday. LeJeune's first interception came on the third play of the third quarter, where he stepped in front of a pass by Rattlers QB LANG CAMPBELL and returned it 18-yards for the first defensive touchdown of the game. His second interception came during Arizona's final possession of the game and marked the fifth for the VooDoo's League-leading interception secondary. New Orleans defense currently leads the AFL in takeaways (27) and is the only team to record five interceptions in a game this season. The VooDoo welcomes the Utah Blaze (0-8) to New Orleans Arena on Friday, April 25 at 8:30 p.m. ET (AFL NET, Cox Sports TV Local - Live).

IRONMAN: Geathers (6-4, 225, Miami) recorded a game-high two fumble recoveries, returning one for a defensive touchdown as the San Jose SaberCats (4-4) defeated the Utah Blaze (0-8), 61-40, at EnergySolutions Arena on Friday. On offense, Geathers registered one reception for a 34-yard touchdown on the third play of the second quarter which gave the SaberCats their first lead of the game. Geathers also posted three tackles on defense as San Jose held the Blaze to a season-low 212 yards of total offense and 40 points. The SaberCats welcome the Los Angeles Avengers (3-5) to HP Pavilion on Saturday, April 26 at 10:30 p.m. ET (FSN Prime Ticket - Live, CSN Bay Area, 4/27 at 1 a.m. PT, SIRIUS Radio - Channel 130) in a Mitsubishi Motors Western Division matchup.

ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Cleveland DB Alphonso Hodge, DB Brandon Hefflin and DL Bryant Shaw, Chicago DB Dennison Robinson, Kansas City DB Jerald Brown, New Orleans DB Keon Raymond, New York DB Billy Parker, Orlando DB Jason Perry and San Jose DB Marquis Floyd.

Ironman of the Week candidates included: Cleveland FB/LB Marlion Jackson and WR/DB Robert Redd, and Chicago WR/LB DeJuan Alfonzo.
