
OurSports Central announces AFL Players of the Week

April 22, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Cleveland Gladiators quarterback Raymond Philyaw, New Orleans VooDoo defensive back Norman LeJeune and Kansas City defensive back Will Holder were named the OurSports Central Arena Football League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for week eight of the AFL season.
Philyaw was 30-39 (76%) for 411 yards, nine touchdown passes and two interceptions in the Gladiators' 83-69 victory over the Los Angeles Avengers.
LeJeune had two interceptions, returned one 18 yards for a touchdown and had four and one-half tackles in the VooDoo's 60-36 victory over the Arizona Rattlers.
Holder contributed three kick returns for 98 yards (32.7 avg.) including one for a 54-yard touchdown in the Brigade's 55-53 victory over the Colorado Crush.
Other players considered for Offensive honors were Cleveland WR Otis Amey, Cleveland FB Marlion Jackson, Chicago QB Russ Michna, New York QB Aaron Garcia and Chicago WR Donovan Morgan.
Others considered for the Defensive award were New Orleans DB Keon Raymond, New York DB Billy Parker, San Jose LB Steve Watson, Cleveland DB Alphonso Hodge and Cleveland DL Bryant Shaw.
Other players considered for Special Teams honors included New York's Chris Onorato (3-3 on field goals, 6-7 on extra points), San Jose's A.J. Haglund (2-2 on field goals, 6-7 on extra points and 2.5 special teams tackles), San Jose Rodney Wright (seven returns for 163 yards) Orlando's John Vaughn (1-1 on field goals, 8-9 on extra points) and Cleveland's Jason Ball (11-12 on extra points and 2.5 special team tackles).
