Saskatoon Blades News Release

Saskatoon Blades' Associate Coach Ryan Marsh & Mental Performance Coach Joshua Hoetmer will be serving Hockey Canada teams at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge when it gets underway in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and Swift Current, Saskatchewan tonight.

Marsh will be behind the bench of Team Canada White as one of its Assistant Coaches for this year's tournament & has previously coached with Hockey Canada for Team Canada Red at the 2016 edition of the World U17 Hockey Challenge.

"It's exciting and I'm truly honoured to be chosen for this event," explained Marsh of the opportunity. "I had a really good experience in 2016, I'd say it was one of the top three experiences in my coaching career. It's such a great program not only for the young players to develop but for the coaches to work together and develop as well."

Joining him at the tournament will be Joshua Hoetmer, who was hired by the Blades at the beginning of the 2018-19 season as the club's Mental Performance Coach. He will be working with Team Canada Red. Like Marsh, Hoetmer also has previous experience with Hockey Canada having worked in a similar role with Team Canada Red at the 2017 World U17 Hockey Challenge where he won a silver medal alongside Blades' Associate General Manager Steve Hildebrand who was the Director of Operations for the team that year.

Both Marsh & Hoetmer will resume their regular duties with the Blades upon the conclusion of the tournament on Saturday November 9th, 2019.
