Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce the signing of defenseman Greg Labenski and the return of forward Ryan Barnes.

Labenski is an eight-year pro that began the season with the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League.

K-Wings' fans will remember Labenski for the time he spent with Kalamazoo last year. While the native of Welland, Ontario played a majority of the 2003-04 season in Cleveland, he did play 21 games with Kalamazoo.

In his 21 games with the K-Wings, Labenski amassed 9 points (1 goal, 8 assists) and registered 56 minutes in penalties.

"Greg adds even more size and experience at defense," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "He also gives us another scoring option from the blue line."

Also returning to K-Wings is forward Ryan Barnes. For nearly two weeks, Barnes has been on a call-up with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League.

Barnes has recorded seven points in the eight games he has played with the K-Wings this season.

Both Labenski and Barnes will be in the K-Wings lineup as Kalamazoo host the Fort Wayne Komets tonight at Wings Stadium at 7 p.m. Tonight's game, which will be the last home game for the K-Wings until Wednesday, December 8th versus the Flint Generals, will be WKFR Turkey Bowling Night.

In a separate transaction Kalamazoo has traded forward Kyle Sheen to Richmond and in return the K-Wings will receive the River Dogs second and third selections in the 2005 UHL North American Amateur Draft. Tickets for all K-Wings home games are on sale by calling the Wings Stadium Box Office at (269) 345-5101 or by stopping by the box office during their regular business hours of 10AM-6PM Monday-Friday, or 10AM-2PM on Saturday's.
